Week 10 - Extreme Weather and Bahrain

 This week I learned about atmosphere and weather, and how they contribute to extreme weather. After analyzing Bahrain's climate I investigated the average temperature yearly. I found that on average the mean temperature for 2021 was 29.15 degrees celsius. This is extremely warm and is considered an extreme weather condition. Furthermore, I discovered that this information checks out, due to the fact that Bahrain is located in an arid and desert area.

I have concluded that Bahrain has unstable air due to the fact that warm air is being overlain by cold, dry air. This is due to Bahrain's climate, causing the production of extreme heat.

 After examining chapter 7 and viewing other references, I can conclude that Bahrain's risk for mass wasting hazards is very low. Furthermore, the possibility for a landslide is very low although, climate change could change the slopes and bedrock stability. Though, the risk of these hazards are very low, it is still evident that Bahrain has no understanding of a plan to mitigate. Some mitigation ideas to consider for Bahrain is to understand and alter slope geometry to prevent landslides and mass wasting hards from occurring. Week 5 Volcanoes

 After going through the week 5 module, I have learned very significant information about volcanoes and the effects it promotes after an eruption. Moreover, my country, Bahrain, does not fall into a 'hot zone' of volcanic activity. This is due to the fact that Bahrain is no where near a plate boundary, especially not divergent plate movement.  The closest volcano to the country of Bahrain is, Barren Island, an island located just south of India. This volcano is the only active volcano located in India. This volcano was dormant for half a century up until 1991 when an eruptions occurred for over six months causing substantial damage to the island. This eruption effected the habitats and survival of many animals on the island. Although the volcano erupts frequently since the eruption of 1991, the explosiveness of the volcano is not dangerous is a 2 on the volcanic activity index. Coastal Hazards - Bahrain

 After researching and reading about the coastal hazards located in Bahrain, I found that there were many hazardous coastal activities occurring. In the next 10 years, there is about a 20% chance that there are damaging coastal waves to the coast of Bahrain. Moreover, Bahrain is known to have large wave activity therefore, it is crucial for mitigation. Some ways Bahrain has been able to mitigate the coastal hazards is constructing flood gates and walls to contain water flow. Another way Bahrain has attempted to mitigate the hazardous waves, is the creation of policies regarding insurance and assistance of financials. Though Bahrain has medium risk of coastal hazards, the large waves can still be very destructive and dangerous.
